In a recent blog post, Pastor Tony Evans references a terrific story about aviation pioneer Handley Page’s encounter with a rat gnawing away at hydraulic lines and control cables in the cargo hold of his plane. But Page remembered a random piece of trivia: rats require more oxygen than people to survive.  Rather than looking to land the plane, he took it to a higher altitude, depriving the rat of needed oxygen. Soon after the gnawing stopped. In addition to a powerful faith teaching, the Handley Page story offers an important reminder to apply to our leadership. Who is the leader you are called to be, and where are the rats in your leadership journey? The negative thoughts, the distractions, the impulsive responses, the dark influences that limit your leadership impact and take you off course? How can you work to deprive these influences of oxygen? Clarity on the answers to these questions is fundamental to your ability to thrive.
